The system brings the unsurpassed natural, dynamic and ultra-low distortion Alcons signature sound in a compact, yet very powerful package with a relative small footprint.

The system features the Alcons-proprietary RBN602rs 6” pro-ribbon driver technology, offering a non-compressed, fully linear sound reproduction at any SPL, with up-to-90% less distortion.

Its fast impulse response, “compression-less” principle and flat frequency response enable a 3 to 6dB better gain-before-feedback than traditional systems, resulting in a perfect intelligibility in even acoustically challenging applications.

The pro-ribbon’s extreme peak power handling of 1.250W (for 200 ms, which is 10x the industry standard) results in a 1:15 RMS-to-peak dynamic range, which means in practice a virtually unlimited headroom.

The patented (80 x 50-degrees) directivity offers a very controlled and consistent projection up to the highest frequencies for a wide stereo sweet-spot and excellent coverage in even elevated listening areas. The revolvable waveguide provides this projection accuracy also with a horizontally positioned GR20.

The RBN602 driver is mounted in a tight-packed, vertically symmetrical configuration with two mid-bass woofers for optimal acoustical coupling and perfect projection coherency.

The custom-designed 10” Neodymium woofers feature Active Coil™ technology for extremely low-distortion LF reproduction, a perfect match with the MHF pro-ribbon technology.

Their two 3-in. voice-coils in passive-filtered tandem with the pro-ribbon’s 6-in. voice coil deliver a very dynamic, high output performance from one single amp channel.

As integral part of the Alcons eco system, the GR20 is to be driven by an ALC amplified loudspeaker controller; Through the factory presets with integrated VHIR™ processing, 192kHz AES3 digital inputs and audiophile amplifier stages, the ALC enables the GR20 to deliver a natural 1:1 sound quality with maximum output efficiency and utmost operation reliability.

The Signal Integrity Sensing™ pre-wiring ensures complete cable/connector compensation between the GR20 and SIS™ featured ALC; The resulting system damping factor of 10.000 offers a further reduced distortion, regardless of cable length and amplifier impedance load.

The front-loaded GB181 delivers highly accurate bass and sub-bass reproduction with maximum output and minimum distortion, achieved through the long excursion 18” transducer. This new-generation woofer features a large dual 4.5” voice-coil Neodymium motor, providing significantly extended excursion* while maintaining high sensitivity. The driver has been engineered with specific focus on minimizing distortion. *(excursion not included in SPLpeak specification.)

The Flow-Vent™ port design provides maximum breathing capacity, further increases overall output while reducing port compression.

The GB181 can be deployed in different ways: horizontally groundstacked, with a top cabinet (GR20 i.e.) on a pole in the M20 stand flange; Vertically groundstacked, even in multiples, with the GR20 stacked in the speaker-specific recess. Through the front-positioned extra NL4 connector, also a cardioid-stacked array is easily possible, providing maximum rearward LF rejection.

For optimal system performance, the GB181 is powered and controlled by the ALC amplified loudspeaker controller. Driven by the ALC, the GB181 offers maximum operational headroom, consistent audio quality, and long-term reliability.

Two options are available: an installation version (“GB181i”) and a road version (“GB181”) with wheel dolly, 2 M20 threaded stand mount flanges and handles. The road version also features a recess for slide-free stacking of a GR20.
