The MR5 is designed as compact main stereo system, or as complement to a larger monitor configuration as surround, i.e. in an immersive sound system.

The MR5 is loaded with the multiple-patented Alcons proprietary RBN202 pro-ribbon driver for MHF. Due to the compression-less principle and the light-weight moving mass of the pro-ribbon transducer technology, the system has a fully linear response at any level with a super-fast transient response; It provides a stable, analytical 1:1 reference without listening fatigue, even after prolonged working hours.

The RBN202 pro-ribbon covers a very wide frequency range to beyond 20 kHz, starting already from 1 kHz, which is well below traditional designs, thus covering a much larger frequency range in the critical mid-band.

The RBN202’s 500 W peak power input (for 200 ms, which is 10x the industry standard) with technology-leading efficiency results in a 1:15 RMS-to-peak dynamic range, which means a virtually infinite headroom.

The unique HempHorn™ with patented constant (120-degrees) horizontal directivity enables a wide and consistent sound field up to the highest frequencies, providing a wide sweet-spot with unmatched 3D phantom imaging; Essential for accurate object placement in immersive systems.

The Alcons custom-designed 5” woofer with Active Coil™, for extremely low-distortion LMF reproduction is a perfect match with the MHF pro-ribbon technology. The evolutionary ScoopVent™ provides maximum breathing capacity for the cleanest response while maintaining the fast transient response, down to the lowest octaves.
