<p>T-Spec&#8217;s Toshikuni Hashimoto on Creating Immersive Live Experiences with Alcons Audio.</p>
<p>For Toshikuni Hashimoto, founder and CEO of Japan-based T-Spec, immersive audio represents more than a technological advancement. It is a way to bring audiences closer to the emotional impact of live music. An early adopter of digital audio networking and AoIP technologies such as Dante, Hashimoto has dedicated recent years to exploring how immersive sound can overcome the limitations of conventional PA systems. &#8220;The sound should come from the direction of the performer,&#8221; he says. &#8220;That&#8217;s the essence of live immersion.&#8221;</p>
<p>According to Hashimoto, traditional left/right PA systems inevitably compromise localisation and clarity. Because both arrays reproduce almost identical content to ensure balanced coverage, listeners often experience comb filtering and reduced intelligibility. The Haas effect can further disconnect audiences from the performance, with off-centre listeners perceiving the sound predominantly from the nearest array.</p>
<div id="attachment_34653" style="width: 366px" class="wp-caption alignleft"><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-2.jpg?x64205" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-34653" class="wp-image-34653" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-2-500x333.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="356" height="237" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-2-500x333.jpg 500w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-2-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-2-675x450.jpg 675w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-2.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 356px) 100vw, 356px" /></a><p id="caption-attachment-34653" class="wp-caption-text">Test set-up in the T-Spec warehouse with single LR7s</p></div>
<p>&#8220;Even when the vocalist stands in the centre of the stage, many people hear the sound coming from one side,&#8221; he explains. &#8220;There is a discrepancy between what people see and what they hear.&#8221;</p>
<p>Immersive live sound addresses this challenge differently. Rather than reproducing the same signals from left and right arrays, multiple loudspeaker positions across the stage reproduce independent audio objects aligned with the performers.</p>
<p>&#8220;Wherever you sit, the direction of the sound matches the direction of the performer.&#8221;</p>
<p>Implementing immersive systems in Japan presents practical challenges. Many small and medium-sized halls have suspension capacities limited to approximately 150–300kg, making loudspeaker weight a critical consideration. &#8220;I wanted to introduce immersive audio even in smaller venues,&#8221; says Hashimoto. &#8220;But immersive systems require multiple loudspeakers. Typical compression-driver systems quickly exceed the available load capacity.&#8221;</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I chose Alcons Audio because I wanted to deliver the best possible sound to people who truly love live music,&#8221; Toshikuni Hashimoto, founder and CEO of T-Spec</p></blockquote>
<p>For Hashimoto, Alcons Audio offered the ideal solution. &#8220;Because Alcons uses Pro-Ribbon technology, the loudspeaker systems are remarkably lightweight, allowing immersive systems to be deployed safely in venues with limited rigging capacity.&#8221;</p>
<p>The controlled directivity of the Alcons Pro-Ribbon transducer proved equally important. &#8220;In immersive sound, all loudspeakers cover the audience area. The wide yet precise dispersion of Alcons ribbon drivers allows overlapping sources to remain clear and consistent throughout the venue.&#8221;</p>
<p>Hashimoto&#8217;s appreciation extends beyond technical performance. &#8220;I originally chose Alcons because I simply loved the sound,&#8221; he says. &#8220;The response is flat and natural. The high frequencies are smooth and pleasant, without harshness or listening fatigue, even at high output levels.&#8221;</p>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-1.jpg?x64205" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img decoding="async" class="alignright wp-image-34650" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-1-500x333.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="387" height="258" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-1-500x333.jpg 500w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-1-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-1-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-1-675x450.jpg 675w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-1.jpg 2000w" sizes="(max-width: 387px) 100vw, 387px" /></a>That transparency became particularly evident during the Wakayama Medical University Big Band&#8217;s 57th Regular Concert. The immersive system featured five rows of Alcons LR7/120 compact line-array modules using Wave Field Synthesis processing, powered by Sentinel amplified loudspeaker controllers, with LR7B subwoofers and VR8 stage monitors completing the system.</p>
<p>&#8220;There was none of the unnatural character often associated with PA systems,&#8221; Hashimoto recalls. &#8220;It became difficult to distinguish between the live instruments and the amplified sound.&#8221;</p>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-4-SPAT_Ircam-processing-1.jpg?x64205" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignleft wp-image-34657" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-4-SPAT_Ircam-processing-1-500x325.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="265" height="172" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-4-SPAT_Ircam-processing-1-500x325.jpg 500w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-4-SPAT_Ircam-processing-1-1024x666.jpg 1024w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-4-SPAT_Ircam-processing-1-768x499.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-4-SPAT_Ircam-processing-1-369x240.jpg 369w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-4-SPAT_Ircam-processing-1-692x450.jpg 692w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Hashimoto-SoundRecording-4-SPAT_Ircam-processing-1.jpg 1183w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 265px) 100vw, 265px" /></a>Immersive object placement and transition smoothing were handled using FLUX::IRCAM Spat Revolution over a Dante network, a configuration Hashimoto values for its flexibility.</p>
<p>&#8220;Alcons allows me to build the system exactly as needed while using the processing platform that best suits the application.&#8221;</p>
<p>Hashimoto&#8217;s commitment to immersive sound deepened during the COVID-19 pandemic. &#8220;For three years, live events almost disappeared. Everyone watching livestreams said the same thing: &#8216;Nothing beats a live performance.&#8217; During that time, I studied immersive audio every single day.&#8221; That pursuit ultimately led him to Alcons Audio.</p>
<p>&#8220;I chose Alcons Audio because I wanted to deliver the best possible sound to people who truly love live music,&#8221; he concludes. &#8220;I want to continue creating the finest live immersive experiences with Alcons Audio.&#8221;</p>

The theatre’s owners required an audio solution capable of handling the widest possible range of performance types, from amplified concerts and large-scale musicals to intimate spoken-word productions, while maintaining exceptional clarity and coverage throughout every audience area.</p>
<blockquote><p>“The LR15 was the perfect choice; Whether we’re amplifying spoken dialogue or large musical productions, the clarity and impact are simply unmatched.”, Arnstein Fossvik system designer</p></blockquote>
<p>“We were tasked with creating a system that not only delivered superior sonic performance, but also matched the architectural integrity of the space,” explains Arnstein Fossvik, system designer and project leader, working alongside Steffen Wevang Karlsen, site supervisor and lead technician. “Alcons’ range of scalable, high-resolution products was the ideal fit.”</p>

Additional stage coverage is provided by SR9 lip-fill loudspeakers integrated into the proscenium, while QR24 line-source column arrays serve as infill reinforcement. Further LR15 delay arrays and VR5 under-balcony systems ensure even coverage throughout the theatre.</p>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-surround.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignright wp-image-34222" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-surround-442x500.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="157" height="178" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-surround-442x500.jpg 442w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-surround-905x1024.jpg 905w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-surround-768x869.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-surround-212x240.jpg 212w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-surround-398x450.jpg 398w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-surround.jpg 1326w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 157px) 100vw, 157px" /></a>To create a more immersive audience experience, the venue also incorporates CRMS surround loudspeakers, while stage monitoring is delivered by a combination of VR12 and VR8 monitor systems. The entire setup is powered and managed by 60 channels of Alcons Sentinel amplified loudspeaker controllers.</p>
<p>“This system had to overcome several challenges,” says Fossvik. “The main arrays had to be flown higher than ideal because of the venue’s 3D flying system, while the FOH position is located far under the balcony with no direct sightline to the PA. Additional fills were strategically placed to guarantee coverage under the balcony and ensure consistency across all audience areas.”</p>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-amprack.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignleft wp-image-34218" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-amprack-281x500.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="171" height="304" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-amprack-281x500.jpg 281w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-amprack-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-amprack-768x1365.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-amprack-135x240.jpg 135w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-amprack-253x450.jpg 253w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-amprack.jpg 844w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 171px) 100vw, 171px" /></a>In the smaller “Lille Hjorten” secondary hall, the system combines VR12 monitors with BF181 subwoofers and VR8 compact monitors to provide flexible reinforcement for a wide range of performances. Elsewhere in the venue, the lobby features VR8 loudspeakers, while the theatre bar utilises distributed VR5 pro-ribbon systems throughout the space. In the venue’s Olgas restaurant, VR5 loudspeakers are combined with a BF121 subwoofer to provide high-quality background music and live performance reinforcement.</p>
<p>Each area benefits from Alcons’ signature pro-ribbon clarity, whether the system is used for background music, speech reinforcement, jazz performances or full-scale productions.</p>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-equipment-rack-Arnstein.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignright wp-image-34219" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-equipment-rack-Arnstein-500x281.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="285" height="160" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-equipment-rack-Arnstein-500x281.jpg 500w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-equipment-rack-Arnstein-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-equipment-rack-Arnstein-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-equipment-rack-Arnstein-427x240.jpg 427w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-equipment-rack-Arnstein-800x450.jpg 800w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Nye-Hjorten-Teater-equipment-rack-Arnstein.jpg 1500w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 285px) 100vw, 285px" /></a>“One of the strengths of the Alcons system is its sonic consistency across different product lines,” Fossvik continues. “From VR5 systems in the restaurant to LR15 arrays in the main hall, the sound signature remains remarkably cohesive.”</p>
<p>Another highlight for the venue’s technical team is the integration of ALControl, Alcons’ remote system management software, allowing comprehensive monitoring, configuration and control of all Sentinel controllers across the venue.</p>
<p>“The LR15 was the perfect choice,” Fossvik concludes. “Its compact size and power output make it incredibly versatile. Whether we’re amplifying spoken dialogue or large musical productions, the clarity and impact are simply unmatched.”</p>

<p>Created by Dolly Parton, the production was supported by an experienced creative and technical team, including Music Director Kevin Stites, part of the original Broadway team, and Ken Travis, currently A1 Sound Engineer for Aladdin Broadway. Travis collaborated closely with SCAD’s student A1, tuning the system and optimizing the mix for the venue.</p>
<p>This production marked the first implementation of SCAD’s newly designed full Alcons pro-ribbon system configuration, featuring dual center channel arrays, front fills, and under-balcony delay systems to ensure consistent coverage throughout the theater.</p>
<p>Through the Alcons Pro-Ribbon Network, SCAD deployed a total of 24 LR15 systems to complement the venue’s existing LR7 house system. This included units supplied via partner inventory, demonstrating the scalability and accessibility of the Alcons ecosystem.</p>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/dual-LR15-center-cluster-©-William-Brown-Photo.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignright wp-image-34089" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/dual-LR15-center-cluster-©-William-Brown-Photo-500x325.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="263" height="171" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/dual-LR15-center-cluster-©-William-Brown-Photo-500x325.jpg 500w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/dual-LR15-center-cluster-©-William-Brown-Photo-1024x665.jpg 1024w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/dual-LR15-center-cluster-©-William-Brown-Photo-768x499.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/dual-LR15-center-cluster-©-William-Brown-Photo-1536x997.jpg 1536w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/dual-LR15-center-cluster-©-William-Brown-Photo-370x240.jpg 370w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/dual-LR15-center-cluster-©-William-Brown-Photo-693x450.jpg 693w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/dual-LR15-center-cluster-©-William-Brown-Photo.jpg 1600w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 263px) 100vw, 263px" /></a>The system configuration for “9 to 5” included:</p>
<ul>
<li>Dual center arrays: 12x LR15 ultra-compact dual-6.5” line-array in two 6-box arrays above the proscenium</li>
<li>Main L/R arrays: 2x 12-box LR7 micro 6.5” line-arrays with LR7B 12” bass extensions on top</li>
<li>Low-frequency support: BF181 single 18” and BQ211 21” subwoofer stacks on stage left and right</li>
<li>Front fills: 6x LR15 across the orchestra pit railing</li>
<li>Under-balcony fills: 6x LR15 using custom mounting solutions</li>
</ul>
<p>All systems were time-aligned and controlled by Alcons ALControl software, powered by a combination of S10 and S3 4-channel amplified loudspeaker controllers, with mixing handled via an Avid S6L-24 console.</p>
<blockquote><p>“Alcons speakers are truly the future of sound reinforcement. The clarity in the vocal range is unmatched, which is why they are increasingly used on Broadway.&#8221;, Joshua Lotz, Executive Director of Production SCAD</p></blockquote>
<p>SCAD’s productions have grown significantly over the past five years, earning the institution the nickname “The Broadway of the South.” A key focus remains on providing students with hands-on experience using industry-leading technologies.</p>

<p>“Alcons speakers are truly the future of sound reinforcement. The clarity in the vocal range is unmatched, which is why they are increasingly used on Broadway. For our students, working with a system that delivers seamless integration between band and vocals, along with precise frequency control, is essential. For performers, the clarity and dynamic reproduction of their voices makes a profound difference.”</p>
<p>Ken Travis adds:</p>
<p>“From the point the crossover transitioned into the pro-ribbon driver, the clarity was very impressive.”</p>
<p>Rob Bridges concludes:</p>
<p>“The Alcons system design enabled even coverage from front to back of the theater. Now that we’ve built our sound design around it, there’s no going back.”</p>
<p>The production was met with strong audience and internal response, confirming the effectiveness of the system design. With this deployment, SCAD continues to reinforce its position as a leading educational institution for creative professions, bridging the gap between academic training and real-world production environments through cutting-edge audio technology.</p>

<p>Alcons Audio announces it’s shipping the CRMS-LFE18sl mkII, a slim-profile reference subwoofer system engineered for the most demanding critical listening environments, following its preview at the ISE show in February.</p>
<p>Designed to deliver exceptionally accurate bass and subsonic reproduction, the system combines extended low-frequency response with outstanding transient accuracy for a truly immersive listening experience.</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;(&#8230;)This significantly widens the frequency response of our pro-ribbon systems, from below 10Hz to above 20kHz. Now with the new sl form-factor, this outstanding fundamental performance can be achieved in more space-conscious applications.”, Philip “Dr. Phil” de Haan, head of Alcons Audio R&amp;D</p></blockquote>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-R.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignleft wp-image-33582" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-R-330x500.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="201" height="305" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-R-330x500.jpg 330w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-R-676x1024.jpg 676w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-R-768x1164.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-R-158x240.jpg 158w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-R-297x450.jpg 297w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-R.jpg 990w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 201px) 100vw, 201px" /></a></p>
<p>Developed with a focus on linearity across its operating bandwidth, the CRMS-LFE18sl maintains precise control over ultra-low frequency transients. At its core is a custom-designed 18” woofer featuring a large motor structure with dual 3” voice coils, enabling extreme excursion capability—up to 10 dB greater than conventional professional 18” transducers</p>
<p>The direct-radiating driver is housed in an internally stiffened, sealed enclosure, delivering an in-room response of below 10 Hz. This configuration ensures an exceptional impulse response, perfectly matching the ultra-fast transient characteristics of Alcons’ proprietary pro-ribbon systems.</p>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-L-scaled.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignright wp-image-33581" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-L-283x500.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="157" height="277" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-L-283x500.jpg 283w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-L-579x1024.jpg 579w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-L-768x1358.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-L-869x1536.jpg 869w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-L-1159x2048.jpg 1159w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-L-136x240.jpg 136w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-L-255x450.jpg 255w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/CRMS-LFE18sl-mkII-front-L-scaled.jpg 1448w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 157px) 100vw, 157px" /></a>Due to the newly-designed form-factor the CRMS-LFE18sl offers unmatched installation flexibility. With its ultra-slim cabinet depth of only 33 cm (13 inches), combined with integrated M10 mounting points, stacking, flying, wall-, or ceiling-mounting is supported &#8211; even in space-restricted environments.</p>
<p>For optimal performance, the system is exclusively powered and controlled by an Alcons ALC amplified loudspeaker controller. Factory presets and VHIR&#x2122; processing ensure precise phase alignment with Alcons pro-ribbon systems, while the 4-ohm impedance maximizes amplifier efficiency.</p>
<p>Incorporating Signal Integrity Sensing&#x2122; (SIS&#x2122;) pre-wiring, the CRMS-LFE18sl compensates for cable and connector influence between the subwoofer and SIS&#x2122; featured amplified loudspeaker controller. This results in significantly improved response accuracy and minimized distortion, regardless of cable length or system impedance.</p>
<p>Philip “Dr. Phil” de Haan, head of Alcons Audio R&amp;D: “the CRMS-LFE18 has always been the tactile foundation of our studio and residential solutions. We specifically designed the 18” woofer for maximum excursion capability, enabling to reproduce even the lowest octaves. This significantly widens the frequency response of our pro-ribbon systems, from below 10Hz to above 20kHz. Now with the new sl form-factor, this outstanding fundamental performance can be achieved in more space-conscious applications.”</p>
<p>The CRMS-LFE18sl is ideally suited for use as an LFE system in high-end post-production facilities, mastering suites, premium screening rooms, recording studios, and reference-grade home cinemas—where full bandwidth with absolute accuracy and realism in low-frequency reproduction are essential.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><u>Historic Venue Upgrades Experience With Pro-Ribbon System</u></p>
<p>The historic Wheeler Opera House, a treasured cultural landmark in Aspen, Colorado, has completed a major upgrade to its cinema playback system with the installation of an advanced Alcons Audio pro-ribbon sound solution. The new system delivers an exceptionally transparent, true-to-source listening experience, elevating the venue’s film presentations to a standard never before achieved in its 136-year history.</p>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Wheeler-Opera-House-interior.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignright wp-image-33482" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Wheeler-Opera-House-interior-500x333.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="345" height="230" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Wheeler-Opera-House-interior-500x333.jpg 500w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Wheeler-Opera-House-interior-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Wheeler-Opera-House-interior-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Wheeler-Opera-House-interior-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Wheeler-Opera-House-interior-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Wheeler-Opera-House-interior-675x450.jpg 675w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Wheeler-Opera-House-interior.jpg 1800w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 345px) 100vw, 345px" /></a>Opened in 1889, the Wheeler Opera House has long stood at the heart of Aspen’s cultural life. Over more than a century, it has evolved from a silver-era opera house into a year-round performance venue hosting concerts, theatre productions, community events and internationally recognised film festivals. Through careful restorations and technical upgrades, the Wheeler has successfully preserved its Victorian elegance while embracing modern performance capabilities.</p>
<blockquote><p>“There is no amount of content being lost in translation from the cinema file to your ears. That is one of the greatest compliments a manufacturer and facility can pay to a creator.”, Michael A. Baca, Production Manager &amp; Audio Supervisor</p></blockquote>
<p>The latest audio investment reflects that same philosophy: respecting heritage while implementing reference-quality technology. The upgrade was carried out by Colorado-based AV integration specialists Rockfan AVL, who worked closely with the Wheeler team to design a system that met both the acoustic demands of cinema playback and the flexibility required for a multi-purpose performance schedule.</p>

Built around Alcons’ patented pro-ribbon transducer technology, the system delivers ultra-low distortion, exceptional intelligibility and full dynamic range at any listening level. From whisper-quiet dialogue to the explosive impact of action sequences, every detail is reproduced with pristine clarity and emotional precision, ensuring that audiences experience films exactly as intended by directors and sound designers.</p>

<p>“Now our guests can sit back and be transported right into the film—just as the director intended,” says Michael A. Baca, Production Manager &amp; Audio Supervisor at the Wheeler Opera House. “There is no amount of content being lost in translation from the cinema file to your ears. That is one of the greatest compliments a manufacturer and facility can pay to a creator.”</p>
<p>Audience response since commissioning has been overwhelmingly positive, with patrons remarking on the striking clarity, depth and power of the new system. The enhanced intelligibility and dynamic capability have transformed the cinematic experience within the historic room, allowing subtle musical passages and the most demanding action scenes alike to unfold with equal authority.</p>
<div id="attachment_33478" style="width: 194px" class="wp-caption alignleft"><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Michael-Baca-next-to-a-CR4.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-33478" class="wp-image-33478 " src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Michael-Baca-next-to-a-CR4-367x500.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="184" height="251" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Michael-Baca-next-to-a-CR4-367x500.jpg 367w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Michael-Baca-next-to-a-CR4-752x1024.jpg 752w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Michael-Baca-next-to-a-CR4-768x1046.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Michael-Baca-next-to-a-CR4-1127x1536.jpg 1127w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Michael-Baca-next-to-a-CR4-176x240.jpg 176w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Michael-Baca-next-to-a-CR4-330x450.jpg 330w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Michael-Baca-next-to-a-CR4.jpg 1321w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 184px) 100vw, 184px" /></a><p id="caption-attachment-33478" class="wp-caption-text">Lee Putnam next to a CR4</p></div>
<p>Rockfan AVL’s contribution extended beyond system specification and installation. Under the leadership of Lee Putnam, the team thought of all the ins and outs of deploying the system, such as developing custom-fabricated modular carts for the CR4 systems, enabling efficient deployment and storage to accommodate the Wheeler’s varied programming. This tailored approach ensures that the cinema system integrates seamlessly within the venue’s broader operational framework.</p>
<p>“This type of upgrade happens once every decade or two, and future patrons will continue to benefit from this experience for years to come,” Baca concludes.</p>
<p>With this installation, the Wheeler Opera House joins a growing number of prestigious venues worldwide relying on Alcons Audio pro-ribbon technology to deliver uncompromised, reference-quality sound. By uniting its rich historical legacy with state-of-the-art cinema audio, the Wheeler continues its mission of gathering the Aspen community in a space defined by both cultural heritage and technical excellence—truly bringing the truth in sound.</p>

<p>The Vienna-based company Pro Performance, a long-standing Alcons Audio distribution partner, has installed a new zoned sound system at the popular “fire &amp; ice” in Ischgl. The installation enables simultaneous operation of different music formats within the venue — without any physical separation between areas.</p>
<p>With more than 20 years of experience in professional sound reinforcement and acoustics, Pro Performance is known for merging these disciplines into cohesive, high-performance concepts. The company has delivered numerous forward-thinking installations in renowned venues such as Flex, Grelle Forelle, Sub, the Loft, das Werk, Praterstraße (PRST) and Subdeck Bratislava.</p>
<p>At “fire &amp; ice”, Pro Performance once again relied on the pioneering Pro-Ribbon technology from Alcons Audio, underlining its expertise in delivering tailored solutions for demanding entertainment environments.</p>
<blockquote><p>The Alcons pro-ribbon technology &#8230;. is perfectly suited to electronic music, just like in Flex and Grelle Forelle, that achieved reference and legendary status with Alcons for good reason.”, Wolfgang Sauter CEO Pro Performance</p></blockquote>
<h3>Project Challenges</h3>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-interior-bar_dance-floor.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignleft wp-image-32877" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-interior-bar_dance-floor-500x333.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="422" height="281" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-interior-bar_dance-floor-500x333.jpg 500w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-interior-bar_dance-floor-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-interior-bar_dance-floor-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-interior-bar_dance-floor-360x240.jpg 360w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-interior-bar_dance-floor-675x450.jpg 675w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-interior-bar_dance-floor.jpg 1500w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 422px) 100vw, 422px" /></a>The venue unites an après-ski club, restaurant and lounge under one roof. A key challenge was achieving seamless sound coverage across the adjoining après-ski and club zones without physical separation. At the same time, two DJs needed to perform simultaneously without sonic interference.</p>
<p>This required a precisely designed and carefully tuned concept that would maintain consistent sound quality while enabling independent programming in each area.</p>
<h3>Tailor-Made Audio Solution</h3>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-VR12-monitors.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignright wp-image-32881 size-medium" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-VR12-monitors-500x261.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="500" height="261" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-VR12-monitors-500x261.jpg 500w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-VR12-monitors-1024x534.jpg 1024w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-VR12-monitors-768x401.jpg 768w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-VR12-monitors-1536x801.jpg 1536w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-VR12-monitors-460x240.jpg 460w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-VR12-monitors-863x450.jpg 863w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-Ischgl-VR12-monitors.jpg 1800w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></a>Under the direction of Managing Director Wolfgang Sauter, Pro Performance developed a customized sound reinforcement concept tailored to the venue’s specific needs.</p>
<p>A total of 34 loudspeakers from the versatile Alcons VR Series were deployed: 15 VR5 high-output compact loudspeakers (featuring the RBN202rs 2” Pro-Ribbon driver), 11 VR12/90i systems (with RBN601 6” Pro-Ribbon driver), and 8 VR8 compact point-source loudspeakers (equipped with the RBN401 4” Pro-Ribbon driver).</p>
<p>The Alcons VR systems are ideally suited for nearfield applications where high output, exceptional sound quality and homogeneous coverage are essential. The loudspeakers were strategically positioned to ensure even sound distribution throughout the various zones. The VR12/90i systems serve as the main speakers in the central areas, while the VR8 units are deployed in bar areas and as fills. For the gallery and seating niches, Pro Performance selected the ultra-compact VR5.</p>
<p>The setup is complemented / was further enhanced by 20 pcs. Pro Performance’s custom-built 18” subwoofers—Sauter’s go-to solution when specific bass requirements and spatial constraints demand maximum flexibility.</p>
<h3>Amplification and Control</h3>
<p><a class="popup" href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-amprack.jpg?x64205"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="alignleft wp-image-32883" src="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-amprack-208x500.jpg?x64205" alt="" width="124" height="298" srcset="https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-amprack-208x500.jpg 208w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-amprack-425x1024.jpg 425w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-amprack-100x240.jpg 100w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-amprack-187x450.jpg 187w, https://www.alconsaudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/02/fire-ice-amprack.jpg 623w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 124px) 100vw, 124px" /></a>The system is powered by six Alcons Sentinel10 amplified loudspeaker controllers, renowned for their sonic accuracy, along with three subwoofers. System control and signal distribution are handled by two Xilica Solaro FR-D matrix processors, providing a total of 64 Dante channels. This setup enables flexible and precise sound adjustment across the venue’s different zones and operational requirements.</p>
<p>The result is a dynamic yet perfectly balanced audio experience that fully meets the high expectations of the venue.</p>
<p>Wolfgang Sauter concludes:</p>
<p>“We have been using the Alcons VR Series in club installations for over 15 years — and they remain highly competitive. In a project like ‘fire &amp; ice’, which requires seamless coverage across very different areas, the systems truly demonstrate their strengths. The Alcons pro-ribbon technology delivers a dynamic and open sound character that is perfectly suited to electronic music, just like in Flex and Grelle Forelle, that achieved reference and legendary status with Alcons for good reason.”</p>

<p>At ISE 2026, Alcons Audio will once again present its award-winning Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience, this year centred around the recently introduced Alcons <a href="http://www.studiomonitor.info" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>M-series reference monitors</strong></a>. Since their introduction, the MR pro-ribbon monitors have drawn strong reactions from engineers and designers alike, setting a new benchmark in analytical monitoring through exceptional dynamics, resolution and spatial accuracy.</p>
<p>The immersive system design is complemented by Alcons’ established <a href="http://www.crms.info" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>CRMS</strong> </a>cinema reference systems, underlining the company’s “one-reference: one-experience” philosophy across professional and high-end residential applications.</p>
<p>Exhibiting at booth G500 in Hall 7, Alcons will also showcase the latest additions to its loudspeaker portfolio. Among these is the <a href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/product/gr20-80/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>GR20</strong></a>, the first model in the new G-series of high-performance generic point-source solutions. Designed for both portable and permanent use, the GR20 combines a proprietary RBN602rs 6” pro-ribbon driver with two custom-designed 10” Neodymium mid-bass woofers in a vertically symmetrical clamshell configuration. Featuring Alcons’ Active Coil&#x2122; technology, the woofers deliver exceptionally low-distortion low-frequency performance that seamlessly matches the pro-ribbon’s mid- and high-frequency clarity.</p>
<blockquote><p>“Our sound systems need to be experienced to truly understand the difference.&#8221;, Tom Back, Managing Director of Alcons Audio</p></blockquote>
<p>Also joining the G-series is the <a href="https://www.alconsaudio.com/product/gb181/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>GB181</strong></a>, a dedicated low-frequency extension for G-series full-range systems, while remaining fully compatible with any Alcons pro-ribbon loudspeaker. The front-loaded GB181 delivers highly accurate bass and sub-bass reproduction with maximum output and minimal distortion, achieved through a new-generation 18” long-excursion transducer with a large dual 4.5” voice-coil Neodymium motor. The Flow-Vent&#x2122; port design further increases output while reducing port compression. Flexible deployment options include ground-stacked, pole-mounted and cardioid configurations, offering effective rearward low-frequency rejection.</p>
<p>In the Pro-Ribbon Immersive Experience demonstration room, all three <a href="http://www.studiomonitor.info" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>M-series</strong> </a>reference monitor models are featured in a 9.X.6 configuration, optimized by Walter Fortmüller of Zenzaru Design and Optimization. Processing is handled by the new Trinnov Altitude CI, with a fully AES3 digital signal chain driving more than 30 channels of Alcons Director and Sentinel amplified loudspeaker controllers. Low-frequency reproduction is provided by sealed CRMS-LFE18sl v2 large-format reference subwoofers using cascaded bass management.</p>
<p>Visuals are delivered by a Sony VPL-GTZ380 10,000-lumen 4K laser projector, combined with a DreamScreen Studio X1 CinemaScope acoustically transparent screen.</p>
<p>Tom Back, Managing Director of Alcons Audio, comments: “Our sound systems need to be experienced to truly understand the difference. Ever since our first ISE in 2003, the show has been a key platform to demonstrate our reference solutions for both the professional as well as the residential market.”</p>
<p>Hourly demonstrations will take place throughout the show, February 3–6 at Fira de Barcelona.</p>
