Basis for the The Ribbon line-array systems is Alcons’ proprietary pro-ribbon technology, with which these systems not only excel in sound quality, but also in throw-efficiency and dispersion pattern control.

Detailed information on Alcons’ pro-ribbon line-array technology is available from the Alcons Audio main website.

A completely coherent wavefront brings unsurpassed throw and projection accuracy.

The Alcons Ribbon line-array currently consists of 3 systems: The LR7 micro line-array, the LR14 ultra-compact line-array system and the LR16 compact line-array system, of which LR7 and LR14 available in both 90-degree and 120-degree horizontal dispersion. Each system is designed to offer maximum versatility in its applications.

The Alcons line-arrays share the same system philosophy in sound quality, projection accuracy, throw efficiency and system logistics;

Standard The Ribbon system configurations are made of sections of 3 units LR: So, arrays of 3, 6, 9, 12 up to 24pcs. (LR7: 18pcs.) per array can be configured, all with an “over-spec’d” safety-rating of 10:1.

Each system can be configured in a number of ways:

  - Full-range flown array
  - Flown array with flown bass
  - Flown array with stacked sub
  - Flown array with stacked bass
  - Flown array with flown bass and stacked subs
  - Full-range stacked array
  - Stacked array with stacked bass
  - Full-range stand-mounted triple-cabinet array (LR7 + LR14)
  - Stand-mounted triple-cabinet array with stacked bass (LR14)
  - Full-range stand-mounted single-cabinet (LR16)

What system configuration to select, depends on size of application (SPL, coverage) , type of sound to be reinforced (speech, classical, pop/rock, etc.), specific requirements (sightlines, low-ceiling, projection areas), etc.

The line-arrays feature all-integrated flying-hardware, without any separate/loose parts; Together with the clever logistics of the FC14 and FC16 transportation systems, this caters for very quick and easy set-up and strike.

The standard amplifier-loading for both LR14 and LR16 is 3 cabinets (either LF or HF) per amplifier channel, creating a 2.7 ohms load. The 2 ohms stability at full power of the ALC offers ample relay possibilities in case of "emergencies" or different system configurations.

The LR7 systems main component is the LR7, a passive-filtered, micro line-array module, featuring single 6.5” woofer and the RBN401 pro-ribbon driver. Available with two dispersion choices, 120° x 15° (HxV), or 90° x 15° (HxV), the LR7 offers unparalleled precise projection control and throw in small to medium applications. The micro size, combined with the weight-saving all Neodymium drivers, leads to a weight of just 8kg / 17.6lb. making the system very easy to handle.

The LR14 systems main component is the LR14, a passive-filtered, ultra-compact line-array module, featuring double 6.5” woofers and the RBN401 pro-ribbon driver. Available with two dispersion choices, 120° x 15° (HxV), or 90° x 15° (HxV), the LR14 offers unparalleled precise projection control and throw in small to medium applications. The ultra-compact size, combined with the weight-saving all Neodymium drivers, leads to a weight of just 15kg / 33lb. making the system very easy to handle.

The LR16 systems main component is the LR16, an active-filtered, compact line-array module, featuring double 8” woofers and the RBN601 pro-ribbon driver. With a dispersion of 90° x 10° (HxV), the LR16 offers unparalleled precise projection control and throw in medium to large applications.

The compact size, combined with the weight-saving all Neodymium drivers, leads to a weight of just 29kg / 64lb. making the system very easy to handle.

ARC™, Alcons Ribbon Calculator
Essential part of the Ribbon line-array systems is the ARC™ software; The basic idea behind ARC is to offer a simple array set-up and simulation program. For extended acoustical projections and predictions, Alcons refers to the EASE™ simulation programs, for which DLL’s are available.

In ARC, the performance of the system can be predicted for an unlimited number of planes. The inter-cabinet angles can be adjusted manually, as well as through the “auto-shooter” function, in order to get a flat SPL, represented by the system’s response at different frequencies.

The resolution of the wide SPL display can be set in variable steps of down to 1dB. The desired angles are calculated with 0,7-degree (LR16), 1-degree (LR14) and 1,5-degree (LR7) accuracy: atmospheric conditions input, rigging info, print-options and much more helpful features of the ARC software transform The Ribbon line-arrays into a precision instrument.

AIM1
The Alcons Inclino Meter™ is the essential tool for reading the absolute tilt of the array; With separate sensor and read-out boxes, the inclination of a flown/stacked array can remotely be monitored on the ground, or even on the FOH position. Simply place the magnetic sensor boxes on the upper side of the grid and connect the signal cable to the read-out box. The dual display allows for read-out of two array tilts simultaneously, with an operating range of ±30° to ±70° angles.

The AIM1 system comes with one dual-display read-out box, two magnetic sensor boxes and two 25m/75ft. signal cables.
