Product description
The MB12 is the dedicated low-frequency extension system for the MR12 three-way reference monitor, expanding its performance capabilities for applications demanding the highest level of sonic accuracy and dynamic headroom. Together, the MB12 and MR12 form a full-range monitoring solution engineered for critical sound reproduction, where ultimate fidelity, transparency and consistency are essential.
Designed specifically for its role as a low-frequency extension system, the MB12 seamlessly complements the MR12’s ultra-reference performance. The low-frequency spectrum is reproduced by a new-generation 12” dual-coil woofer, combining extended excursion capability with exceptionally low distortion. This dedicated transducer design, different from the MR12’s Active Coil™ 12’, delivers powerful and accurate sub and bass reproduction while maintaining the speed, detail and transient response required in critical monitoring environments.
The 12” woofer is loaded by Alcons’ evolutionary ScoopVent™ technology, providing maximum breathing capacity for the transducer. This advanced loading principle minimizes compression effects (“port chuffing”) and ensures the cleanest, most linear low-frequency response, extending effortlessly into the lowest octaves, down to 22Hz while preserving dynamic integrity at all operating levels.
The addition of the MB12 provides enhanced flexibility for a wide range of professional monitoring applications. Dedicated system presets allow users to select different low-frequency reinforcement profiles, optimizing system performance for specific workflows, room acoustics or personal monitoring preferences.
As integral part of the Alcons eco system, the MB12 is to be driven by the ALC amplified loudspeaker controller; Through the integrated VHIR™ processing, 192kHz AES3 digital inputs and audiophile amplifier stages, the ALC makes the MB12 deliver absolute maximum sound quality with utmost operation reliability and flexibility.
Furthermore, this configuration offers also other advantages, such as efficient centralized processing and amplification without difficult accessible electronics; No heat build-up behind a screen, in a baffle-wall or against a ceiling.
