The new CRMSQ system is the latest addition to the CRMS Series; The product group of cinema reference systems that can be found in world’s most renowned post-production studios and discerning home cinemas.
The modular CRMSQ extends the series’ capabilities to even the largest of listening environments, such as home theaters or performance spaces where ultimate fidelity in combination with very precise projection control is required.
The system showcases the latest developments in transducers, acoustics, amplification and processing; It combines studio monitor analytics with live-sound musicality.

Conveying emotions through the pro-ribbon transducer
The heart of the CRMSQ system is the RBN1203 12” pro-ribbon transducer, as also featured in the Q-series professional line-source columns. By implementing Alcons’ multiple-patented pro-ribbon technology for mid and high frequencies, a very-fast impulse response with ultra-low distortion is achieved. This enables the CRMSQ to reproduce the original sound without adding any coloration or
distortion, at any sound pressure level.

For the first time ever, it is possible to go “full-circle” utilizing the exact same high-resolution transducer technology from recording to mastering to playback and large-scale delivery, for any type of source material and in any size of application.
Razor-sharp vertical directivity control
The all-natural cylindrical wavefront of the multiple-patented RBN1203 pro-ribbon transducer creates a unique vertical pattern control up to the highest frequencies; This virtually side-lobe-free cylindrical projection enables combining multiples of CRMSQ without destructive interference.
With a step-distance of 6.5” and a crossover point at 1kHz, this transducer coupling coherency is maintained down to the LF section, which is of very significant importance for the best sound quality.
The system’s active frontal radiation is more than 90%, by using only 2 RBN drivers; The resulting razor-sharp directivity control up to beyond 20kHz., prevents destructive floor and ceiling reflections while maintaining sonic source integrity and “proximity experience”.
The controlled (cylindrical) projection can be extended down to the lower frequencies by enlarging the array length through adding extra CRMSQ modules (extending the “near field”).
Unique ultra-low distortion 1:1 sound reproduction
The Alcons proprietary mid and high frequency technology in the CRMSQ offers a 1:1 non-compressed sound reproduction and exceptional clarity with up to 90% less distortion than any conventional mid/high transducer, due to the light weight diaphragm and lack of a compression chamber; This results in a perfect intelligibility without any listening fatigue. Because of the direct-drive working principle, the pro-ribbon driver does not have a "compression threshold" resulting in a linear response at any sound pressure level.
The custom-designed high-output 6.5” woofers feature Active Coil™ technology for extremely low-distortion LF reproduction, a perfect match with the MHF pro-ribbon technology.
Seamless patented horizontal dispersion
The RBN1203 driver is mounted in a co-axial speaker configuration with four woofers in a sealed cabinet; This symmetrical acoustic design, in combination with the patented horizontal constant directivity of the RBN mid-high frequency drivers, offers a coherent horizontal pattern control with seamless coverage; This widens the “stereo sweet spot” significantly, regardless of the audience seating.
Furthermore, The constant directivity also guarantees a consistent reflected diffuse-field; Resulting in a very coherent sound response, both direct and reflected, dramatically enhancing the natural hearing experience.
The CRMSQ RBN HF section is available in 80-degrees and 110-degrees version: The horizontal orientation can be manually adjusted in 5 steps of 5-degrees (+10, +5, 0, -5, -10), for optimal projection without increasing the system’s mounting depth.
Virtually infinite system headroom
The 12’ voice-coil of the RBN1203 pro-ribbon driver brings a remarkable dynamic headroom reserve, with a unique 1:15 RMS-to-peak power handling ratio. The two RBN1203 combined feature a peak power handling of 2.000W (200 msec), creating a virtually infinite system headroom of 4.000W from 1kHz up.
This huge head room capacity enables maximum screen compensations without any audible stress on the high-frequency performance of the system, while maintaining the full sound dynamics at even the
highest sound pressure levels

The frequency response of the CRMSQ system can be extended by the addition of a CRMSQB low-frequency module. In larger configurations, the controlled (cylindrical) projection of the CRMSQ can be extended down to the lower frequencies through adding extra CRMSQB modules, effectively enlarging the LF array length.
The CRMSQB is a modular column bass array system that can be stacked in multiples, making it an ideal building block to form bass arrays, for obtaining low frequency projection and throw control, drastically reducing the influence of the room acoustics.
The CRMSQB is available in two versions: The CRMSQB, with CRMSQ width-matching, in width-critical spaces and the CRMSQBsl, with CRMSQ depth-matching, maintaining a 25,4cm / 210-in. system depth.
As integral part of the Alcons eco system, the CRMSQ and CRMSQB is to be driven by the ALC amplified loudspeaker controller;
Powered and controlled by the ALC, the Alcons systems deliver a natural sound quality with maximum output and utmost operation reliability, through the integrated VHIR™ processing, 192kHz AES3 digital inputs and audiophile amplifier stages.
The Signal Integrity Sensing™ pre-wiring of the CRMSQ and CRMSQB ensures complete cable/connector compensation between the CRMSQ and SIS-featured ALC; This offers a 1:1, undistorted natural sound reproduction, regardless of cable length and amplifier impedance load.
